The culture of excess

We live in a society of gadgets and gizmos, toys and more toys and things that evoke feelings of luxury, style and class. This is available for almost everyone, not just the privileged few. This is the 21st century.

No other time of year is more prevalent, visible and promoted aggressively during the Christmas period.

Thanks to advances in technology, radio, print and electronic media are inundated with advertising that appeal to society at large, to people of all walks of life.

Open any newspaper or magazine and indulge yourself with endless advertising, attractive, appetizing and certainly attractive. You can not miss it, it almost on every page, you reflected in my face.

Turn on your computer and you can access more products and services with a click of the mouse. Add to this the endless ads and banners.

The young generation has grown up in this era of consumerism. They are entering a high maintenance lifestyle at an early age. Gone are the days when shopping for children it was fun. A time when it did not take much to make their young hearts happy. Life was simple.

Times have certainly changed. The traps of the good life is no longer the exclusive domain of the rich. Comfort, travel, wheels, houses, luxury, name, is accessible to anyone willing to pay the price. No longer just a dream.

This is just the beginning of consumerism in our society. For the sake of convenience, there are more and more gadgets for the home introduced faster than you can pay the existing debt. However, this is not a deterrent.

It is no longer a matter of satisfying a need, the list "you always want longer. Each member of a family has its own wish list.

Technology is wonderful, allowing man to take big steps, faster and more accurate than our ancestors. The technology makes it possible for man to explore space, the depth of the sea unexplored parts of this land. Through technology, man has made incredible progress in science, communications and medical. The technology is if a great benefit to humanity.

It 'very much a part of our daily lives. There is a downside-man wants more of the convenience that comes with it. Feeds the imagination of producers and consumers. Stimulates the need to want more. It encourages the desire to pamper themselves and loved ones with more products.

Having more than they need to promote a sense of living the good life. For every season, every occasion, the market offers boundless ideas and endless flow of material goods. Be careful, the quality is slipping down too quickly, as production and advertising are cranking higher, some quality is compromised.

The convenience that technology offers is hard to ignore. How did we manage before when mostof the chores were done manually? Imagine the time spent doing nothing?

Take a look around the house, push a button to get laundry done or the dishes. Press another button to start the car before opening the door. Set a timer for your coffee maker, for the lights to come on at a time desired, the clock radio. You would not be lost without the remote control?

What about the other gadgets and tools for the handyman? Look at other things around the house to make life more comfortable and certainly add to that feeling of comfort and luxury.

There's more. The communication revolution. Each family member must be wired. Watch the ads, imagine the convenience of having more gadgets for each family member only for so much per month. Add to this the paraphernalia that goes with it, some of which are good to have but not a necessity. But who cares? Becomes a must have.

The quest for material goods is excessive proportions. It affects the very heart of a person. Some can only measure success in relation to their goods. Some identify their self-esteem with the acquisition of material. The status and prestige words medals worn with pride. Rightly, they are happy.

How much of these goods on credit? How many sleepless nights are spent doing endless calculations and adjustments? Did not experience that sense of emptiness in the midst of a comfortable environment? There is room for a quiet moment that comes at no cost?

If this culture of magic in excess of their happiness and peace?
